The InVircible Registration Template

The registration template is an encrypted text file that contains identification details of the licensee, authorizations to let InVircible perform specific tasks, as well as license terms (date of issue, expiration date etc.). The registration template plays a key role in configuring and distributing InVircible in the network / corporate environment.

Without a valid registration template, InVircible runs in "Sentry" mode, supporting only basic and emergency functions. A valid registration template is required in order to unleash the more advanced capabilities of InVircible. The template file can be found in the main InVircible directory, bearing any of the following names: IVreg.txt, User.txt, Pwruser.txt or Admin.txt.

The existence of your registration record in the NetZ users database, combined with the possessing of a valid IV registration template constitute the sole and only proof of a legitimately acquired InVircible license.

Follows a list of authorization levels, controlled by the registration template:

  • Sentry: This is the InVircible lowest authorization mode, where no valid template exists, or after a license has expired. In 'sentry' mode, only basic operations can be performed. These include virus alerting, removal of simple boot/MBR infectors, preparation of the rescue diskette, and using the rescue to recover access to the hard drive. Some InVircible modules do not require the presence of the license template, such as IVZ - the rule based virus probe and disinfector, IVX - InVircible's cross-correlator and more. These modules are free for the use of private users, only! Corporate, institutions and businesses are required to license the software after a single evaluation period of 30 days, if they wish to continue using the software, or part of. Users are advised that InVircible is protected by copyright and a US patent. The infringement of either are federal offenses.
  • User: This is the permissions level granted to registered common users in the corporate / network environment. All lower (sentry) privileges are maintained, and in addition, users are allowed to remove macro viruses from Word and Excel files.
  • Power User: This is the standard permissions level granted to single user package owners (shelf version), and privileged users in the corporate environment. In addition to the permissions granted to lower level users, power-users are allowed to restore infected applications, as well as perform higher level hard disk recovery tasks.
  • Administrator: This level permissions are reserved to system administrators, to allow them to manage and control the distribution of InVircible throughout the organization, configure the mode of operation of IV on end-user workstations and set the end-users permissions level.
  • ResQ Professional: ResQpro authorization empowers help-desk personnel and data recovery experts to perform advanced hard disk and data recovery.

Installation of the license template: The Power User template is installed by default as part of the setup process, when installing InVircible from the distribution CD-ROM to a single / stand-alone computer.

The license template is normally valid for 15 months from the date of issue (one year, plus three months bonus). An expired license can be renewed, at reduced cost, by filling the on-line order form. A registration program will be sent to your e-mail address within 24 hours from confirmation of your data. Executing the program will install a new template, overwriting the expired one.

Owners of a site license are provided with a set of three templates: User, Power User and Administrator.

Deployment to multiple sites through WAN

NetZ Computing has developed procedures and centralized distribution engines for the deployment of InVircible through WAN (Wide Area Network), for the benefit of large corporate and organizations, operating from multiple sites.

Corporate and institution IT managers are invited to e-mail us with the description of their specific requirements. We'll reply with customized solution(s).
